Q6 Academy
The Birth Of Q6Academy

The reason for the establishment of Q6Academy was firstly mainly targeted towards new Muslims . I had the zeal for dawah and wanting to spread the message of Islam. Once Allah allowed the message to enter the heart of new Muslims (I gave Dawah to), I then faced a problem. I had many new Muslims around me, but wasn’t aware on how to teach them Islam. Where do they start? Is a question I asked myself.
During mid 2020 approximately 4 years ago, there were not many organisations dedicated to teaching new Muslims the basics of Islam, especially when the world was in and out of lockdowns due to the pandemic that had spread.
The zeal for dawah encouraged me to take matters into my own hands, I was determined to build these new Muslims up and teach them the little I knew of Islam, to the best of my ability. I taught them how to make wudhu, how to pray and other basics of Islam. Then the big challenge came, teaching them how to recite the book of Allah.
This is a very big and scary moment for many, learning how to read a new language, new sounds that you’ve never made before and you don’t even know the meaning of what you’re saying in most cases. These are all obstacles but can’t be taken as excuses, as Allah says in the Quran, “we’ve made the Quran easy so who will remember it?”
I first taught after the holy month of Ramadan, on the blessed day of Eid Al Fitr, I was sitting in a cafe in the evening and in my company were 3 new Muslims. A question popped into my mind and I had the sudden urge to ask, I questioned them , “Have any of you learnt how to recite the Quran in Arabic?” They all responded to that answer with a no. This surprised me because two of them were Muslim for approximately a year or more at this point and one of them took his shahadah only 2-3 months before. It didn’t surprise me that they couldn’t recite Quran, as I know this is a difficult task, it surprised me that they weren’t on the journey, they didn’t seem to understand the importance of gaining a connection with the book of Allah. But in all this, the issue wasn’t with them, there was a bigger issue, and that was my concern. The issue was that, there were no online/in person platforms which are solely dedicated to teaching reverts or newly practicing Muslims how to recite the Quran.
Before we got up from that table, I made an offer to everyone on the table that I would teach them how to recite the Quran. At this point, I didn’t have any prior knowledge to teaching but I knew how to recite the Quran and had memorised a significant amount. I promised them that I’d teach them how to recite the Quran in a short period of time.
It was then when my journey of teaching the book of Allah began. I decided to take on the momentous task of teaching new Muslims how to recite a language totally new to them. Alhamdulilah, they had a good basis as they knew how to pray so this made my job easier.
To complete the task of teaching them how to recite, I planned a schedule. I was certain that it shouldn’t take more than 10 lessons to learn how to recite the Quran.
My first student was able to complete the schedule after 6-8 lessons, I can’t remember the exact number. We did 2 lessons a week for 1 month and a half but we missed some weeks of lessons, so it took a total of no more than 8 lessons.
My second student was able to complete the schedule in less than 6 hours, it took him 6 days. And that is where Quranin6ix or Q6academy, gets its name.
Fast forward a few months, I realised that I really had a love for teaching the Quran. For that reason, I felt almost obliged to go on the journey to Egypt and pursue learning and memorising the Quran. It was there where I completed my memorisation of the Quran and learnt beginner level tajweed.
I didn’t stay in Egypt very long, my main goal was to complete the Quran and after that I planned to return home. Upon my return, I didn’t know where to turn my focus. How was I going to help others learn and better their relationship with the Quran?
Then came Ramadan, during this time I knew I had to ask Allah for guidance, I knew that I wanted to teach the Quran but I didn’t know where to start. Throughout Ramadan I was making Dua to Allah and asking for His direction. Then came the last 10 days, then the last few days of Ramadan. Then something amazing happened…
I have a strong feeling it was the 27th of Ramadan but I’m not too certain of that. I was in I’tikaaf so I can’t remember the exact details, anyone who has performed I’tikaaf knows the difficulty of it, hence why I can’t remember the detail. I remember precisely, earlier that day, I asked Allah for a specific Dua and I feel like what happened next was the answer.
It was after taraweeh, and we were waiting to pray tahajjud. I was sat next to a very motivational brother who I had met the previous year. We started speaking about the topic of the Quran and I told him my story. I remember mentioning to him that I taught the Quran to a student in 6 hours. He then gave me the suggestion to make a social media and a book and call it Quran in 6 hours. This is where the name Quranin6ix was created. The advice I was given was to make social media and start posting content. After a few months of planning, I took the advice and started Quranin6ix, now being over 1 year old I can proudly say, this is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I ask Allah that he increases all those who have been a part of Q6 so far and especially the one who inspired the idea of Q6, May Allah bless him and his family and allow all those who benefit from Q6 to be on his scale of good deeds.
After running the social media for 5 months my accounts were gaining a large interest. It was everyday I would get Dms asking if I taught Quran. This is when I realised how many people are in need of a Quran institute/academy so they can learn the Quran.
Now it only made sense to set up something official where we have a website, teachers, courses etc. The academy was officially launched at the end of 2023, we’ve had many ups and downs but Alhamdulilah for everything. Allah has allowed us to benefit many people through our courses. We ask Allah to accept it from us and then and increase us all in sincerity and goodness.
Although the initial drive of teaching Quran was to benefit reverts, my mindset has now changed drastically as I’ve come to the conclusion that there are not only scarce resources for reverts but also born Muslims who were never taught how to recite the Quran from a young age, or they were taught but forgot due to negligence. I also realised that there aren’t many Quran institutes which have a structure where they guide their students along the way and support them and give them a curriculum to follow, set them short and long term goals and build life long relationships with their students. Our institute is for people of all ages, all backgrounds and all levels. No matter your level, we promise to guide you through this amazing journey with the Quran.
Our success stories:
From Non Muslim to memorising the Quran:
One if our students took shahada on June 4th 2023. He is now able to recite the Quran with ease, he has memorised almost 2 ajza of the Quran and he completed the recitation of the whole Quran during the month of Ramadan. All this in just over a year. How amazing is that? Allahuma barik!!!
Another one of our students, (born Muslim) was unable to recite the Quran at the beginning of the year, after taking our back to basics class (2 week intensive course) and then enrolling on our fluency program, he is now able to recite the Quran fluently and has almost completed 1 juz of the Quran.
Before the launch of the academy, I used to go live and teach the back to basics course. This course is a 14 day intensive course and it covers all the rules one needs to be able to recite the Quran. I would teach this course from time to time on tiktok live and I would receive many Dms people asking questions and also private lessons. I knew many people were benefiting from this but I didn’t realise how many benefited until I got this Dm.
Recently, during just before the days of Hajj, I opened my tiktok Dms and read:
“salam I just wanted to say to I spent quite some time joining your lives as you tought Quran in 6… I had lost my the ability to read it over the years and you helped my regain it … although you won’t even know that… I really wanted to go to haj and allhumdolillah have secured a package….this means I can read Quran when I am there… I wanted to thank you for giving your time ..jzk”
This goes to show many things and I’m not showing this to boast or show off. Rather, I am showing this because I want everyone to realise the reality that we’re living in. Many have lost their connection/relationship with the Quran hence so many Muslims facing many difficulties. Not to say if everyone had an amazing connection to the book of Allah we would be free of any trials and test. No that’s not the case. But rather, my point is, if we all had a connection to the book of Allah then this would allow us and give us the tools and motivation to navigate through the trials and difficulties of the dunya.
If you were motivated by this story, feel free to support us as an academy and donate whatever you can do so we can grow and offer free lessons and courses to others.
If you got this far, Jazkallahu khayr for reading, any mistakes I’ve made are from me and the shaytan, any good or benefit you can take from this is from the one who deserves all praise, Allah.
